Fort DuPont State Park is partnering with the Delaware State Parks Time Travelers program to celebrate with an Archaeological Institute of America International Archaeology Day event from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Fort Dupont State Park Grassdale Center, 108 N. Reedy Point Road, Delaware City.
Delaware State Parks’ archaeologist John McCarthy will be on-site to show Native American pottery, and visitors will be able to touch and hold examples of old artifacts from Delaware’s history, and are invited to bring their own objects to try to stump the archaeologists.
An exhibit and demonstration will teach about the history of 19th-century firearms, and a special hayride will be held at 4 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. Admission is free; the hayride is $7 per person. For more, call 834-7941 or visit destateparks.com.
