Rehoboth Beach Mayor Paul Kuhns recently signed a proclamation declaring Nov. 9-12 as Rehoboth Beach Inaugural Veterans Appreciation Weekend.

“The city of Rehoboth Beach encourages all citizens to recognize our military veterans and the organizations supporting them for their contributions to our national security, to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans and those who serve in harm's way and to actively support our local veterans and their family members,” Kuhns said.

Various events are planned in town honoring veterans. Browseabout Books, 133 Rehoboth Ave., will kick off the weekend at 5 p.m. Nov. 9 with a book signing. Craig Grossi will appear to discuss his book, “Craig & Fred: A Marine, a Stray Dog, and How They Rescued Each Other.”

The VFW Post 7447 will hold a ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the bandstand. There will be a community open house at the VFW Post 7447, 101 State Road, after the ceremony. Local businesses will offer Veterans Day specials. Participating businesses will post a sign for veterans in their establishment.
