Comcast announced Jan. 2 that the Comcast Foundation awarded the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware — Georgetown BGC — with a $15,000 grant in support of the club’s My.Future technology program.
The technology program uses hands-on technology training to equip club kids with the skills needed to compete in a 21st century economy.
The grant will be used to provide cub staff with additional training and funding to purchase equipment, including computers, tablets, smartboards, digital cameras, music studio tools and video-editing technology.
My.Future transforms the way young people use technology through hands-on training and education. The program allows club members to explore different areas of interest and complete projects in a variety of fields — from internet basics for technology beginners, to coding, robotics, game design and online journalism for advanced learners. Club members are awarded with digital badges which can be showcased online, shared with peers or added to a member's resume to indicate their technical competency.
