Members of Hank’s Hope Inc. gathered at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital Jan. 19 to present hospital leadership with an inspirational painting by local artist Katherine LeCocq to hang in the hospital chapel.

The painting was created as part of “Project James” in memory of James, the son born stillborn to Hank’s Hope Inc. board member Kelly Fox. The painting is designed to bring peace to parents after experiencing pregnancy or infant loss and provides a slot for family members to place a memorial pebble.

Hank’s Hope Inc. was founded in memory of Henry “Hank” Shaffer Mathay, stillborn at 33 weeks in 2012 to Anne Mathay and her husband, Noah. The organization was originally formed in 2013 as a March of Dimes fundraising team and officially incorporated into an official 501(c)(3) in 2015 with the mission to provide resources and support to families who are affected by pregnancy loss and infant loss.
