The Lewes Planning Commission is undertaking the review of zoning ordinances and maps after the state’s approval of the updated 2015 Comprehensive Plan, which happens every five to 10 years.
As a part of this process, they will consider options to help promote and preserve the city’s marine commercial areas. Residents and business owners are being asked to assist the LPC in setting the objectives for areas around the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal and along Savannah Road toward Lewes Beach, referred to as Marine Commercial District, by completing a survey.
The survey asks respondents to prioritize the characteristics necessary to maintain and improve the Marine Commercial District, as well as, identify any threats to the continued viability of the district. The survey — available at bit.ly/2Fap5Bc — will be open until 5 p.m. Feb. 23.
In addition, the commission will hold open forums starting in mid-February to receive input from citizens. Follow-up interviews of interested persons will be conducted after the surveys have been received.
