Dos Locos in Rehoboth hosted and donated a Feb. 11 award luncheon honoring participants of the Rehoboth Walk to End Alzheimer’s, held Sept. 30, 2017, at Grove Park.

In previous years, the number of participants in the walk grew slowly, but had never topped 500. This walk holds the record at 722 registered walkers. In addition, Rehoboth had never been able to meet the goal, but this year raised $153,912.27, beating the goal of $153,000.

Recognized for their efforts in fundraising were Top Walkers Michael Reilly, $5,400; Nancy Kemble, $4,525; and Carey Fagan, $4,175. Top Teams were Genesis HealthCare at Lofland Park Center, $14,118; Dewey Beer Co., $12,790; and Delaware Seashore Parrot Head Club $10,500.

Genesis HealthCare at Lofland Park was also recognized as the Top Senior Care Team and won the National Team Challenge, meaning they are the No. 1 Genesis Team in the nation.

Dewey Beer Co. was named Company for the Cause 2017. The Delaware Seashore Parrot Head Club was named the Rookie of the Year Team for their efforts.

The Hornets for a Cure Team from Delaware State University was named School Pride Team, raising $587.84.

Wendy’s Warriors from Independence 55-plus Community was named Top Family & Friends

Team, raising $7,417.

Funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer’s further the care, support and research efforts of the nonprofit Alzheimer’s Association.
