Peninsula Home Care recognized two occupational therapists as Outstanding Occupational Therapist of the Year for their work and dedication to the patients they serve: Helen Serrano, of the Seaford branch, and Miranda Wood, of the Salisbury/Ocean Pines branch.

Serrano joined the PHC team as an occupational therapist in January 2015. She brings 16 years’ experience to the job after working for eight years as an internship coordinator, clinician and college instructor and another eight years as a senior occupational therapist in London. Serrano earned her Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy and Doctor of Dental Medicine and was awarded Best Occupational Therapist as an intern. She enjoys working with patients in their home environment and finds it fulfilling to see patients achieve goals and complete everyday tasks in their own homes.

Wood joined the Maryland PHC team in August 2016. As a certified occupational therapy assistant, she educates patients about techniques to make daily living tasks at home easier. Wood has an associate’s degree in applied science in occupational therapy from Delaware Technical Community College. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and and actively participates in her local church as a Sunday school teacher.
