Nanticoke Health Services announced that Rachel Gardner was promoted to director of cancer care services.

In this position, Gardner will manage operations that continue to provide lower Sussex County with quality cancer care at the Allen Cancer Center at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. This includes planning for strategic and operational needs, resource allocation, administrative duties, marketing and leadership of staff.

Gardner has been an employee with Nanticoke Health Services for the past 35 years. She served in multiple disciplines including charge nurse, mentor, manager and director.

Gardner received her Associate in Nursing from Delaware Technical Community College in 1982 and received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Chamberlain School of Nursing in 2015. She is a member of infection prevention, quality and safety committees within the organization. Among these committees, she served as chair of the hospital’s Fall and Clinical Alarms committees and is an active member of the Leadership Coordinating Committee.
