Michael Luciano, of Seaford, turned himself in

A former Laurel Middle School substitute has been arrested for offensively touching a student.

On March 13, 2018, the Laurel Police Department received a complaint from a Laurel Middle School student’s mother, who claimed her child was offensively touched by a substitute teacher during school hours.

Further investigation showed that 45-year-old Michael Luciano, of Seaford, was hired by the Laurel School District as a substitute teacher 10 days prior to the incident. While acting in his official capacity, Luciano was offensively touching the juvenile victim, causing alarm. Upon notification of the incident, the Laurel School District immediately terminated Luciano’s employment.

Luciano was charged with offensive touching and turned himself into police without incident. He was later released on $500 unsecured bond and ordered to have no unsupervised contacted with anyone under the age of 18.
