The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is revving up for the ninth annual Monster Miles for a Cause Halloween-themed walk Oct. 20 at Dover International Speedway, 1131 N. Dupont Highway.

The un-timed walk, which takes place during breast cancer awareness month, is a family-friendly event for supporters to step onto the NASCAR track to benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. Dover International Speedway will host, and Bayhealth will present Monster Miles.

Attendees are encouraged to walk in honor or in memory of someone in their life who was impacted by breast cancer. Costumes for Halloween are also encouraged. Food, vendors and team and individual prizes for fundraising and costumes are included. Superheroes welcome. Monster Miles is dog-friendly, and one dog will receive the best dressed dog award. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and the walk will step off at 10 a.m.

Monster Miles will be held rain or shine and costs $20 per individual in advance and $25 for day-of registration. Individuals can also participate as part of a team. Children 12 and younger can walk for free with an adult. The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition will have a beer garden after the race, along with a souvenir for each participant. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Proceeds from Monster Miles for a Cause will benefit DBCC’s programs and services that work to increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms and bilingual screening navigators and offer support and resources to women and men in the local community who are newly diagnosed or facing a recurrence of breast cancer.
