Camden Wheatley, 2, of Millsboro, is the race’s honorary starter. Camden’s family stayed at the house while he received care at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children for a descending aortic artery. Camden will sound the starting horn at the race.
“The Ronald McDonald House took the burden of finding a place to stay and worrying about meals away and we are forever grateful,” said Camden’s mother, Monica Wheatley. “The support from staff and other families that were staying was comforting in a time of stress for our family. It really is a community and such a wonderful place for those in need.”
