The fifth annual Run, White and Blue 5K run and 1-mile walk will be held Sept. 6 at Delaware Technical Community College’s Owens Campus, 21179 College Drive, Georgetown, to benefit scholarships for veterans and first responders.

Registration will start at 5 p.m., and the race will start at 6 p.m. near the Student Services Center. Day-of registration is $30.

After the race, there will be a family-friendly, post-race cookout featuring barbecue chicken cooked by Greenwood Volunteer Fire Co., barbecue brisket with baked beans and potato salad from Mission BBQ pizza from Pizza King, oysters from JD Shuckers, ice cream from Vanderwende Farm Creamery, beer from NKS Distributors and Mispillion River Brewing and wine from Sposato Family Vineyards. There will also be an awards ceremony for the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top finishers in each age group.

In addition, the Delaware State Police will have a helicopter, mounted patrol unit, patrol car, mobile command post, K-9 demonstration and a seatbelt rollover simulator all on display. There will also be a smokehouse simulator from the Blades Volunteer Fire Co., a CPR and Stop the Bleed demonstration from Sussex County Emergency Medical Services and display vehicles and information tables from Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Department of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement, Delaware National Guard, Delaware State Fire School and the Milton, Georgetown and Seaford police departments.
