37-year-old Dawn Baker arrested after Wawa incident
Delaware State Police have arrested a Lewes woman after an incident at a Wawa.
At 7:35 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, troopers were dispatched to the Wawa at 17663 Dartmouth Drive in Lewes for a disorderly female. There, they learned that 37-year-old Dawn Baker was asking customers for gas money and when they declined, she became disorderly and began using profane language. Upon police arrival, she took off on foot, and as a trooper was attempting to detain her, she began resisting and striking him.
Baker was subsequently taken into custody and arrested. The trooper sustained minor injuries and damage to her equipment. The trooper did not require medical treatment.
Baker was charged with second-degree assault injuring a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, failure to comply with taking of photos and fingerprints, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and loitering. She was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $6,602 secured bond.
