Sussex County’s Open for Business, a free business development session for startup and existing businesses, is set for 8:30-10:30 a.m. Jan. 16 at the Fireside Lounge, Student Services Center at Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus, 21179 College Drive, Georgetown.
Sussex County’s Open for Business is partnering with 1 Million Cups, a Kauffman Foundation educational program that is designed to engage, educate and accelerate local startups. Two presenters from startup and young businesses in Sussex County talk about their companies’ highlights, problems, gaps and challenges. The audience is made up of entrepreneurs, advisers and people getting ready to start their own companies. During the event, each presenter is given feedback, suggestions and ideas to make their business work better where everyone there gets to learn from the entire conversation.
Sponsored by the Sussex Economic Development Action Committee Inc., Sussex County’s Open for Business is held the third Thursday of each month except December and offers free, one-stop access to organizations, agencies and resource partners who assist small businesses in funding, business consulting and training in Sussex County.
Organizations that will be on hand include the Delaware Small Business Development Center, Sussex County Economic Development Office, The Center for Enterprise Development; Delaware State University; Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership; Delaware Procurement Technical Assistance Center; Delaware Technical & Community College’s 1 Million Cups; SCORE Delaware; Southern Delaware Tourism; U.S. Small Business Administration; Delaware Office of Supplier Diversity; Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control; Delaware Department of Transportation; U.S. Department of Agriculture; and the Delaware State Housing Authority.
