Delaware State Police have arrested Richard Cohen, 21 of Milton, in connection with a home invasion that took place Thursday, August 27, on Sand Hill Road north of Georgetown.
Around 11:30 p.m. that evening, three or four suspects broke out glass on a rear door of the home and made entry. Once inside, the suspects confronted three adults and three children and began making demands.
While making the demands, the suspects were confronted by three pit bulls and while the suspects were retreating, one allegedly fired a shot from a handgun that narrowly missed a child.
The suspects then fled back to their vehicle, but Cohen did not make it in time as was left behind. Troopers found him about ¼ of a mile from the house in a wooded area. They also located a weapon in the woods but do not believe it is the one that fired the bullet in the house.
Cohen was taken into custody and charged with attempted robbery in the first degree, possession of a firearm by person prohibited, burglary first degree, six counts of reckless endangerment, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, criminal mischief and conspiracy second degree. He was committed to the department of correction in default of $98, 500 cash bail.
