SCI inmate dies, no foul play suspected

An inmate at the Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) in Georgetown died Thursday, March 4, following an illness. David Shaw, 62, (DOB 06/01/1947) died in Beebe Medical Center in Lewes at 9:30 p.m.

Shaw, of Hockessin, DE, was serving 24 years for Unlawful Sexual Intercourse 1st Degree and Unlawful Sexual Contact 2nd Degree (2 counts). His sentence effective date was 04/21/1991.

Shaw’s body has been turned over to the State Medical Examiner's Office, as is standard procedure.

No foul play is suspected.
