Pedestrian struck on U.S. 113 in Georgetown airlifted to Christiana

Georgetown Police officers, at approximately 2:58 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, were dispatched to the U.S. 113 and Bramhall Street in reference to a subject being struck by a vehicle.

An investigation revealed that Terri Knox, 46 of laurel, was walking across the northbound lane of 113 when she came into the path of a 2005 Ford Escape driven by John Flanigan, 68 of Lewisburg, Pa. Flanigan made an evasive maneuver but was unable to avoid striking Knox.

Witnesses stated Knox, who is allegedly suffering from mental health issues that police said may have contributed to her actions, just walked out in front of the Escape.

The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit airlifted Knox to Christiana Hospital, and she is currently listed in stable condition in the surgical intensive care unit.

No charges have been filed at this time.
