A Georgetown Police officer, on Friday July 23 at approximately 9: 20 a.m., was on routine patrol in the area of the Classic Motel, located at 313 S. DuPont Highway, when he observed a black male lurking around the hotel’s parking lot.
The Georgetown officer was familiar with the identity of the male – Darmarius T. Turnage, 22 of Harrington – because of an advisory bulletin sent out to all police agencies.
While surveillance was kept on the suspect by the officer, Turnage left the motel in a vehicle. The officer then tailed the vehicle carrying the suspect, activated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle on West North Street.
After confirming the identity of the passengers, it was determined Turnage was in the backseat of the vehicle and he was subsequently turned over to Delaware State Police Troop 4 detectives. The detectives then arrested Turnage on the following charges stemming from two different incidents.
From July 14 on Middleford Rd. near Seaford: possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; possession of a firearm by person prohibited, two counts of reckless endangering, criminal mischief under $1,000. From July 8 in Harrington: robbery first degree; possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony; aggravated menacing; wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony; unlawful imprisonment first degree; conspiracy second degree; theft.
Turnage was remanded to SCI in lieu of $92,100 secured bond.
