Sussex County Association of Realtors' Executive Vice President Ruth Briggs King has been nominated by county Republicans to run against Democratic candidate Robert Robinson Jr. in the 37th District special election to replace Joe Booth.
Briggs King was chosen on Sunday, one day after Robinson got the nod from the county's Democratic committee. She will contend against the Georgetown resident and public defender for a seat that could determine Democratic supermajority control of the House.
"For me, it's a natural move," said Briggs King late last week. "My community activism and concerns have been known for some time... I'm used to being an advocate for the people. I think I can bring a fresh perspective to the issue, and there are plenty to be discussed."
