With campaign finance reports due Sept. 4, Republican candidate Ruth Briggs King holds a roughly $26,000 edge on Democratic candidate Rob Robinson Jr., as the two head down the final stretch before Saturday's special election.

Robinson, who has been raising funds since Aug. 19, spent $15,427 of $28,378. Briggs King, who was among the contenders for the Senate seat captured by Joe Booth, has been fundraising since the beginning of 2009, and built up a $54,740 campaign war chest, of which $39,617 had been spent as of Sept. 4.

Briggs King's campaign includes $30,000 in loans.
