Georgetown council held a first reading at its March 10 meeting for an ordinance officially designating a variety of streets throughout town as emergency routes.

Most of the included roads are those which town officials kept clear of parking during February's winter weather, with a few additions:

• Market Street
• Bedford Street
• Bridgeville Road
• Pine Street
• Race Street
• Front Street
• E. Laurel Street, from N. Bedford to N. Race
• W. Laurel Street, from N. Bedford to N. Front
• Edward Street, from N. Bedford to N. Front
• W. North Street, from N. Bedford to U.S. 113

Town council may from time to time modify the designated streets by appropriate motion. A second reading of the ordinance will take place at a future council meeting, before a vote is held to take any formal action.
