Georgetown traffic stop yield drugs, shotgun

A Nov. 5 traffic stop in downtown Georgetown yielded more than 20 grams of narcotics and a shotgun, leading to drug and weapons charges for a 27-year-old Dundalk, Md., man.

Georgetown police pulled over Juan Antonio Vargas, of Dundalk, Md., around 3:45 p.m. Thursday for a traffic violation. During the vehicle stop, they located 6.5 grams of heroin, 11 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of marijuana, 10 clonazepam pills and a 12-gauge shotgun.

Vargas was charged with trafficking heroin and cocaine, possession of both drugs and a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed weapon and other charges.

He was committed to SCI in lieu of $113,501 cash bond.
