Democrats' spring gathering set for Saturday in Georgetown

The official spring gathering of Democrats in Sussex County will be Saturday, March 20, at the Cheer Center on Sand Hill Road, in Georgetown. Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden will serve as the keynote speaker.

Beginning with a cocktails at 5:30 p.m., the dinner affair with networking, traditional auction, and door prizes will be catered by Georgia House. Ticket costs $40 per person can be obtained by contacting the committee person in each district or Rebecca "Becky" Breasure, co-chair of the Dinner Committee at 302-856-2173.
 
"The highlights of the evening will be the fellowship and camaraderie Democrats will have with each other. It has been a long hard winter and we are looking forward to seeing everyone. It looks like we are going to have a nice turnout from all of our representative districts, as well as other parts of the state. Our Democrat elected officials has been invited and they know the importance of getting out support their works, just as the committee people get out the vote for them on Election Day", she adds.
 
The following elected officials have been invited: Vice President Joe Biden, Jr., U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Ted Kauffman, Gov. Jack Markell; Lt. Gov. Matt Denn; Insurance Commission Karen Steward; Treasurer Velda Jones-Potter; Delaware State Senators George H. Bunting, Jr. and Robert Venables; State House Representatives Pete Schwarzkopf, Robert Walls and John Atkins; Sussex County Councilperson Joan Deaver and Row Officers John Brady, Eric Swanson and Gregg Fuller.
 
Candidates seeking office who have been invited are: Richard Korn, Scott Spencer, Chris Coons, Chip Flower, Lt. Gov. John Carney (retired), Frank Shade, Alma Roach, Russell McCabe; Barbara Hudson, Perry Mitchell and Ken Matlusky.
