Lt. Gov. Matthew Denn announced July 29 that the Delaware Criminal Justice Council, which oversees spending of all federal criminal justice grant funds in Delaware, will hold three New Castle County community meetings in August to hear from the public about Delaware’s criminal justice system.
The meetings follow similar community meetings held earlier this year in Dover and Seaford.
The Criminal Justice Council has 27 members, representing law enforcement agencies, judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, members of other state agencies that interact with the criminal justice system, and representatives of the general public. Several of its members are expected to attend these meetings to hear from the public, and the lieutenant governor, who chairs the Criminal Justice Council, will attend all three meetings.
One of the primary purposes of the community meetings is to give the public an opportunity to provide input to the Criminal Justice Council as it sets its funding priorities for the coming year.
The meetings will be held on the following times and dates:
- 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at the Rosehill Community Center, 19 Lambsons Lane, New Castle
- 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Hilltop Lutheran Neighborhood Center, 1018 W. 6th St., Wilmington
- 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at the New Destiny Fellowship, 906 E. 16th St., Wilmington
