Indian River, Sussex Tech girls soccer to meet in state tournament opening round

Indian River and Sussex Tech girls soccer teams will meet, Tuesday, in the first round of the state tournament.

The No. 7 seed Lady Indians and No. 10 Ravens will play at Milford High at 6 p.m. The game will be followed by a bout with tourney top-seed Caesar Rodney and No. 16 Milford.

Tech upset IR in the regular season 2-1 and finished the regular season 11-4. The Indians ended up 12-3.

Whichever team advances between Tech and IR will face either No. 2 seed Padua or No. 15 Concord, May 28, at an as of yet to be determined site or time.

Along with IR, Tech, CR and Milford, Delmar is the tournament’s other Henlopen team. The No. 11 seed Lady Wildcats will play No. 6 Wilmington Charter at Middletown, 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
