Sussex Central and Sussex Tech baseball, today, will clash for the second time this week after the Golden Knights scored an upset over the Ravens on Tuesday.
Coming off yesterday’s 8-4 victory at Delmar and looking to get to the .500 mark for the first time this season, Central (4-5 overall, 4-3 Henlopen) will travel to Tech (3-3, 3-2) for the 4 p.m. non-conference bout. Tech, which gave up five runs in the seventh frame in a 7-5 loss to Milford yesterday, is looking to avoid a three-game losing skid that would leave them under .500.
Central ace Matt Cleary kept the Ravens off the bases in the Knights’ 3-1 victory in round one of the rivals’ two-scheduled meetings, while Tech’s No. 2, Eric Sharff, pitched a solid effort in the loss. Tech used its No. 1, James Smith, in the loss to Milford and the Knights had to use No. 2 Steve Novak against the Wildcats, so with both teams likely going deeper in the rotation this time around, the contest could feature its share of offense.
