1 MORE HELP FOR HAITI In our online reader survey this past week, 60 percent of respondents have not made a contribution toward the relief efforts for earthquake victims in Haiti. We know times are tight, but for less than the cost of two burger combos at just about any local fast-food restaurant, you can text "HAITI" to 90999 and donate $10 to the Red Cross's relief efforts. There are also a variety of local efforts underway.

2 MORE POSITIVE STEPS ON THE COURT All three local boys' hoops teams are in the win column, and while the season is already half over, it is still an encouraging sign. All three teams are young, with talent to nurture. And let's not forget that all three girls' hoop squads are playing well this season.

3 A FAIR SHARE FOR POKER Last week, the House passed a bill that would legalize table gaming at the state's three racinos. And while the state and racino owners battle over their share, one group that is not really being considered is the wide variety of local organizations and charities that benefit from nonprofit poker games. From fire halls to Poker at the Beach in Rehoboth, these worthwhile events will surely lose revenue to legalized Texas Hold'em. The state needs to fill its budget gap, but nonprofits continue to suffer as well with the dip in the economy.
