Central football earns Division I No. 6 seed, trip to No. 3 Concord

Sussex Central learned Sunday, Nov. 15, it would travel to Concord for its Division I first round state tournament game.

The No. 6 Golden Knights and No. 3 Raiders will meet for the first time in the playoffs, with their game scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m.

Top-seed St. Mark's and Blue Hen Flight A champion Middletown, the No. 2, earned byes. If Central is victorious, it will play St. Mark's at Baynard Stadium on Friday, Nov. 26. Central lost to the Spartans in week two of the regular season. A Concord win would set up a Raiders’ rematch with Middletown, which the Cavs won the first time.

In the other D-I opener, No. 4 Salesianum hosts No. 5 Caesar Rodney on Friday, Nov. 19 at Baynard. Sallies bested CR when the teams met in the regular season.

For Division II, no central Sussex Teams qualified, but Henlopen South champion Lake Forest drew the No. 3 seed and an opening-round home contest with No. 6 Archmere, while runner-up Delmar earned the five-seed and will travel to play No. 4 St. Georges.

D-II's top seed is Appoqunimink, followed by St. Elizabeth.
