CENTRAL SUSSEX -

VIOLET V. PUSATERI
Violet V. Pusateri, 88, of Ocean View, formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, at her residence.

She was born on May 19, 1920, in Black Lick, Pa., the daughter of the late, Fred and Jane (Cairns) Clawson.  She worked in the accounting department for Oakloom Clothes in Baltimore, Md.  Violet was a Ladies Auxiliary member of the VFW Post No. 7234 at Quillen’s Point in Ocean View.  She seemed to have a “green thumb,” and loved flowers and her garden. 

Pusateri was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Anthony Joseph Pusateri, who passed away in 1982; and her son, Joseph Pusateri.

She is survived by her son, Anthony J. Pusateri and his wife, Althea, of Baltimore, Md.; her daughter, Mary J. Putschky, of Ocean View; her son-in-law, Robert Putschky, of Baltimore, Md.; her three sisters, Gertrude Zimmerman; Beatrice Wilson; and Hellen McCutcheon; and her brother, Edwin Clawson; her five grandchildren, Robert Meyer; Lorie White; Jennifer Pusateri; Mark Pusateri; and Sean Pusateri; and her six great-grandchildren, Shawn White; Jason White; Jonathan White; Lauren Meyer; Christopher Meyer; and Katelyn Meyer.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 5 p.m., at Violet’s residence, 38335 Lu Lee Court, Ocean View.
Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

ELIZABETH J. “PIXIE” COLLINS
Elizabeth J. “Pixie” Collins, 62, of Millsboro, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, in Salisbury, Md.

She was a past member of the Gumboro Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and she attended the Line United Methodist Church, in Whitesville, Md.

Collins enjoyed playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Leroy J. Collins; and her two brothers, Noah F. Lewis, who passed away in 1980; and Preston E. Lewis, who passed away in 2002.

Collins is survived by her two sons, Leroy C. Collins; and Carmel J. Collins; her five brothers, Thomas E. Lewis, Jr.; William Lewis; Robert Lewis; Samuel Lewis; and Melvin Lewis; her two sisters, Judy Shanahan; and Margaret Lewis; and her two grandchildren.

A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, June 26, at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Frankford.

Interment in Line Community Cemetery, Pittsville, Md.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Pixie’s memory to American Diabetes Association of Delaware, 110 West Tenth Street, Suite No. 1002, Wilmington, DE  19801.

ELWOOD W. STEVENS
Elwood W. Stevens, 68, of Ocean View, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
He was born on December 13, 1939, in Frankford, the son of the late, William C. and Nellie D. (Parsons) Stevens.

Stevens attended Bay Shore Community Church, in Gumboro.  He was a member of the Delaware Mobile Surf Fishing Association and the Assateague Island Surf Fishing Association.  He had a love for Dodge trucks and a special love for his Pekinese Dog, “Biscuit.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, of 26 years, Mary Elizabeth (Long) Stevens, who passed away in 1996; and his sister, Alberta Stevens.

Stevens is survived by his two brothers, John L. Stephens and his wife, Shirley, of Clarksville; and Clifton Stevens; and his in-laws, whom he was close to, the Long family.
Graveside Services were held on Thursday, June 26, at the Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro.

Reverend Robert A. Hudson officiated.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Elwood’s name to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriot’s Way, Milford, DE  19963.

JAMIE LEE HEMBREE
Jamie Lee Hembree, 22, of Georgetown, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at his residence.

He had attended Southern Delaware School of the Arts and Sussex Central High School.

Hembree loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, and enjoyed working and being outside.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Molly Hembree and James Hembree, of Tennessee; and Mark Pusey, of Georgetown.

Hembree is survived by his parents, Laura R. Pusey and James Hembree, Jr., of Georgetown, with whom he lived.  He is also survived by his five brothers, William Pusey; Jovan Hembree; and Mark Hembree, all of Georgetown; Michael Hembree, of Allentown, Pa.; and Timothy Hembree, of Smyrna; his two sisters, Brenda Breasure, of Millsboro; and Mary Emory, of Allentown, Pa.; his five uncles, Uncle Frank Tallent and his wife, Aunt Pearl, of Georgetown; his Uncle Leo; his Uncle Gerald; and his Uncle Odel, all of Tennessee; and his Uncle Guy Pusey, of Pennsylvania; his several cousins, nieces, and nephews, and a host of good friends.

All Services were private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Short Funeral Services, 609 East Market Street, Georgetown, DE  19947, to help defray expenses.

GRACE H. LYNCH

Grace H. Lynch 80, of Frankford, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md.

She was born in Bishopville, Md., the daughter of the late, George and Mildred (Magee) Hudson.

Lynch was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.  She was a long-time member of Frankford United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, whom will dearly miss her, Bernard P. Lynch; her daughter, Janet Hearn and her husband, Edgar; her son Philip Lynch; her two granddaughters, Tonya James and her husband, Curtis; and Monica Furbush; and her two great-grandchildren, Lindsey Furbush; and Branson James.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, June 28, at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Frankford.

Burial in Carey’s Cemetery, Frankford.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Grace’s memory to Frankford United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 37, Frankford, DE  19945.

VIRGINIA M. RUST
Virginia M. Rust, 93, of Harbeson, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.

She was born in Millsboro, the daughter of the late, Annias W. and Viola T. Hickman.  She was the owner of Virginia’s Sub Shop.  She enjoyed gardening.

Rust was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Lloyd Rust, who passed away in 1979.

She is survived by her son, Lloyd Rust and his wife, Gloria, of Harbeson; her two grandchildren, Phillip Short and his wife, Angela; and Lisa Justice and her husband, Michael; and her two great-grandchildren, Nicolina Short; and Kenna Justice.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, June 30, at 1 p.m., in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, where friends called after 12:00 noon.
 
Interment was in Harbeson Cemetery, Harbeson.
