To the Editor:
Double- dippers receive one check for being a legislator and one check for a government funded job or pension. They have a vested interest in government-funded jobs.
Polls show 80-90 percent of government employees trust the government all or most of the time while only 20-30 percent of the general population does. I don’t trust these double-dippers to cut the size of state government in any significant way.
If state employee Rob Robinson is elected to the 37th District House seat, exactly half of all Democratic legislators will be double-dippers! Delaware has the second highest per-capita government spending in the country, 13 percent higher than third place New York and 40 percent higher than fifth place California! Cutting our bloated state government and reducing our tax burden is critical to economic growth in the state and to creating more jobs.
Democrats hold the governor’s post, an unchecked majority in the state senate, and with Robinson, would achieve an unchecked super-majority in the state house. This year, with an $800 million deficit to close, this Democratic majority couldn’t find a single state employee to let go but instead raised your taxes. Your vote for Ruth Briggs King can stop this unchecked power and begin the process of bringing this big government bias to an end.
