Greetings! I recently took over as the editor here at the Sussex Countian and I am looking forward to working with the community on great stories this year.

So, a little about me. I graduated from Millersville University with a degree in communication in 2004. While there I worked my way up to becoming editor of both the student newspaper and yearbook.

Right after graduation, I went to work for a daily newspaper in Hanover, Pa. And, less than a year later I had the opportunity to move to Delaware.

I arrived in Sussex County in May 2005 to work as a reporter for the Cape Gazette. Here, I really came to love Sussex County. I also became a believer in community journalism.

The one thing about the New York Times and larger newspapers is that they cover news that we already get on television. Here at community newspapers, like the Sussex Countian, we focus on our residents, our children and what is happening on the ground. I think that is why the Sussex Countian and its sister newspapers throughout the state do so well.

Journalism is about objective reporting on important issues, but it is also about getting our scholar athletes and bake sale winners into the newspaper. The Sussex Countian blends hard-hitting journalism with a soft spot for community achievements.

I am proud to be at the helm of this newspaper. My door is always open, so give me a call or stop by to say hello.
