1 A TWO-WEEK CLEAN STREAK FOR THE DUI TREE State highway safety officials announced this week that there were no additions to their DUI memorial Christmas tree, and that is wonderful to see. With New Year's Eve coming up -- traditionally a night for heavy DUI enforcement -- it would be doubly great to usher in 2010 with another fatality-free week.
2 MORE PEOPLE LIKE WILLIAM GIBBS Georgetown-based Anointed Breadbasket Ministries served its final "Feed the People Dinner" this past Christmas Day. The group's parent organization, the Booker Street Church of God, will continue with the ABM's outreach and food ministry. The ABM and the dinner was the brainchild of Georgetown resident William Gibbs, who passed away this year (see the story in this week's news section), and he leaves behind a legacy of selflessness and community service from which we could all take a lesson.
