1 A HEARTY WELCOME-BACK This week, we welcome reporter Rachel Swick to the Countian newsroom. Having spent several years reporting here in Sussex, Rachel is a great addition to the editorial staff. With journalism throughout the world in a rather tenuous state, it is always encouraging to see a growing newsroom. We welcome Rachel to the Countian, and hope you will look forward to her writing in the future.

2 A NICE, BIG, FAT PARKING LOT Georgetown chamber officials confirmed last week that the town has been selected to host the 2011 Delmarva Chicken Festival, which attracts a two-day crowd of more than 20,000 in a celebration of the peninsula's top industry. Right now, chamber executive director Karen Duffield said her office is working to find a suitable spot for parking. With its central location, Georgetown would be able to pull festival-goers from all over Sussex. We'd love to see a local landowner work out a deal to bring this high-profile event to town.

3 MORE OF YOUR PHOTOS! They've been coming in pretty regularly, but we're always looking for more photos from faithful readers. With plenty of exciting community events coming up, including the Indian River School District's first science fair, the GMCC Bridal Show in Millsboro or reader photos from a recent sports game, drop us an email (editor@sussexcountian.com) or submit your news online at sussexcountian.com/submit-news.
