Editor,

This is to all of the Sussex County Council members:

Why are you allowing the Board of Adjustments to approve variances that do not meet the requirements in the code?

Lawrence Lank, the head of planning & zoning reported, at one of the recent Ad Hoc meetings, 7,000 variances were approved, compared to only, 1,000 denied. An oooh cry went up from the people in attendance.

The requirements for granting a variance are not this Board of Adjustments standards.
We were told this board was approached about the variance approval problem, but went back to doing it the same old way, approval after approval...
We in Sea Air Village did not understand what this board was approving until it directly affected us.

For the past six years, this Board has directly affected the homeowners in this park.  We as homeowners do not blame Sun Corp. as much as the county, for allowing them to do this.  There are mobiles that are sitting five (5) feet from the road, very dangerous for all concerned.  Then some mobiles allowed to be placed very close to their neighbor’s property, one home on their neighbor’s property. The county should be looking out for us, the homeowner.

Why is it the landowner always seems to get the nod in this county?
The same member of the Sussex County Council stated this county has ruined Sea Air Village, in an open meeting.  He had taken a tour of this park and saw the mess this county has made firsthand.

Can a landowner do the right thing in placing a mobile on a small lot and still make a profit. Yes.  Visit East Colonial in Rehoboth, off of Route One.  The homes are uniform, in a row, not blocking their neighbors view.  Not sitting up to the road, at five feet from it.

There are two to three up for re-appoint this June, is this county council going to do the right thing and replace the members?
The decisions this Sussex County Council will be making in the very near future, is very important to many.  There are other voting groups now attending all meetings on the county level and keeping record of your decisions, please start making the right ones, for the people, the homeowners.
This is a list of a few residents:

, Bohdan Nick Semciw,
Dee Melchiorre,
Anita Shuff,
John and Kathy Molitar
and Pam Graeber, president of the homeowners association.
