    • PHOTO GALLERY: Dogs removed from Safe Haven

    • Without notice, workers from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which took over day-to-day operations at the shelter last month, loaded the remaining dogs into several vehicles Thursday afternoon and drove them to an undisclosed location. Several local animal advocates traveled to the shelter, located at 19022 Shingle Point Road in Georgetown, on Thursday after they were told, reportedly by Safe Haven officials, they could adopt the remaining dogs. However these people were turned away by the ASPCA, who eventually called the Delaware State Police and reported the prospective adopters were trespassing on private property.
