First State launches capital campaign, May 13

May 14, 2010 @ 10:25 AM
For 44 years, First State Community Action Agency has provided services for residents. Now, the agency that has helped so many is launching a capital campaign to renovate its building, so it can continue expanding services. Executive Director Bernice Edwards said the agency needs to raise $900,000 to complete the renovation, which includes upgraded and more efficient lighting, a new bathroom, improved waiting area and children’s room, expanded and state-of-the-art training room and demolition of parts of the interior. The current building, located on Railroad Avenue, dates back to the 1940s and has served the agency well, Edwards said, but it is time to upgrade. To kick off the capital campaign, First State invited supporters and friends to a reception at The Brick Hotel in Georgetown. Here, they provided information about the capital campaign and also talked about how supporters could help. For more, see the May 19 edition of the Sussex Countian.
