An accident involving a Ford Taurus and a tractor trailer resulted in serious injuries and a four-hour road closure.

Police say the accident occurred just after 10 p.m. last night, Tuesday, Feb. 21, when Seaford resident Howard J. West, 59, attempted to back his 1996 Flatbed Trailer into a private driveway on Bethel Concord Road.

According to a Delaware State Police news release, Laurel resident Marc D. Morgan, 31, failed to see the truck as he traveled eastbound on Bethel Concord Road, causing him to strike the side of the truck and forcing his Ford Taurus under the trailer.

Emergency workers labored to free Morgan from his car and then transported him to Christiana Hospital for his injuries, according to the release.
