The Lambert Chronicles / March 10, 2010

As a baseball history buff, I already knew quite a bit about Judy Johnson’s baseball career and that he had lived in Wilmington and also that he was a baseball scout for many years after his playing days were over. However, what I learned at a special event last Saturday was “the rest of the story.”

The Swaam: Roethlisberger's troubles show poor judgment

As Americans, we are brought up around certain phrases, including "innocent until proven guilty," and "where there's smoke, there's typically fire." It's tough to decide which to lean toward when it comes to Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The Swaam: Tech's Cannon a changed man

Current Sussex Tech senior Wendell Cannon, I’m not afraid to admit, has been one of my favorites throughout his career with the Ravens. By his own admission, he was “evil” just a few years ago. Then, something happened. Honestly, I don’t know what it was, and I’m not even sure Wendell knows for certain either, but a new man emerged from what was once a bit of a wild child.

The Swaam: 'Big Hurt,' small announcement

Can a man like Frank "Big Hurt" Thomas - who was twice the ball player Mark McGwire ever was,  has never been even suspected of steroid use despite his mammoth size and even took a stance against performance-enhancing drugs – hang up the cleats and have the world hardly even take notice? Not here, my friends, not in the Swaam’s little corner of the Sussex Countian and Internet world.
