On Friday, June 4 at 7 p.m., the Milton Historical Society will host historian and journalist Michael Morgan to present "Baseball in the 19th Century." Morgan will discuss the history of America's National Pastime, including how the game got started, the effect of the Civil War, and Sussex County's place in baseball's history annals. This is the first in a series of programs about baseball in our region in partnership with the Lewes Historical Society and the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society.

Michael Morgan is the author “The Delaware Diary,” which appears weekly in the Delaware Coast Press and “The Sussex Journal,” which is a weekly feature of The Wave. Morgan's articles have also appeared in the Beachcomber and other coastal newspapers. In addition, Morgan has written for Civil War Times, America’s Civil War, and other national publications. Morgan is the author of Pirates and Patriots, Tales of the Delaware Coast, Rehoboth Beach, A History of Sand and Surf and the soon to be released, A Brief History of Bethany Beach. Following his talk, Morgan will be available for book signings.
