Locally, two teams are taking the diamond this summer, as the Sussex East Warriors will play out of Dagsboro at Indian River High School and Spooner Post will host visitors at Sports at the Beach.

Spring sports sprung into action Tuesday evening in central Sussex, as our local prep sports stars took their respective fields, courses and tracks to begin the new season. Following is a brief wrap-up of yesterday’s reported action from Sussex Central, Sussex Tech and Indian River’s sports teams.
Parings for the state dual teams championship were set Sunday, with Indian River and Sussex Central both earning spots in their respective division tournaments.

Indian River wrestling lost its first match of a Jan. 22 quad meet at Sussex Tech, 32-30, to Cape Henlopen before rebounding for a dramatic 38-37 victory over the host Ravens and throttling Henlopen South foe Woodbridge 53-28.
