Just days after Sussex Tech's baseball team defeated rival Sussex Central 8-1 for the Ravens' first win on Sussex Central's field, the two rivals got together again for a more important contest. Tuesday evening's battle at Tech was a Henlopen Conference game, and the host Ravens had little trouble with the Golden Knights, winning 12-2 in a six inning, mercy rule shortened affair.
Tech junior Eric Sharff, who baffled the Central offense last Thursday from the hill, picked up where he left off in that contest, as he went the distance yet again to pick up the win.
The former Georgetown Little League All-Star also did plenty of damage at the dish for Tech, as he went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBI.
Also doing damage at the plate for the Ravens in the win were sophomore Kyle Mister, who had three hits and two RBI, freshman Scott Smart, who had a pair of hits including a double and drove in a pair, and senior Sam Grohovac, who finished 2-for-2.
Knights junior catcher Chris Conaway accounted for two of Central's six hits off Sharff.
With the win, Tech improved to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in Henlopen play, putting the Ravens in a second place tie conference wise with the Knights (5-4, 4-1) behind Delmar, which sits at 7-2 and 5-0 after knocking off CR on Tuesday.
Central will continue Henlopen play Thursday at home against the aforementioned Wildcats, while Tech heads north for a non-conference showdown at Salesianum.
