Apparently you cannot stop Mother Nature, merely hope to contain her.

After nearly two weeks of dry weather, rainfall across Sussex County has forced the postponements of several high school tournament games.

Sussex Central and Sussex Tech were both set to host baseball and softball games Wednesday, and those contests are now slated for today (Thursday). The two baseball games will begin at 4 p.m. and the softball contests will start an hour later.

The Golden Knights of the baseball diamond are slated to take on Milford, while the softball squad will welcome Caesar Rodney to town.

At Tech, the baseball team will host Dickinson and softball takes on Milford.

Indian River's softball team did see its season end Wednesday with a 2-1 loss to top seed Caravel.
