Henlopen Conference baseball champion Sussex Central today (Saturday) found out it earned the state tournament No. 3 seed and will host South champ No. 14 Milford on Tuesday at home.

The Golden Knights and Milford met for a regular season bout in April, which Central won 13-8.

If Central bests the Buccaneers, it will play at home again Thursday against the winner of a first round contest between No. 6 Newark and No. 11 A.I. DuPont.

Sussex Tech too will play at home as the tournament's No. 8 seed, and the Ravens' opponent is Blue Hen Flight B club Dickinson.

Tech, if it wins, will either be at home in the second round against No. 16 Tatnall or will travel to No. 1 seed Middletown, pending the outcome of a bout between those two latter teams in the opening round, on Thursday.

Defending state champion Salesianum is the tournament's No. 2 seed and Hodgson sits at No. 4. Sallies and Central both had the same tournament point index, but the former was awarded the second seed due to a 10-0 head-to-head win over the Knights during the season.

Polytech joined Central, Tech and Milford as the only other Henlopen squad in the tourney.

First and second round games for both Central and Tech are scheduled for 4 p.m. starts.
