Central falls just short in D-I dual-meet championships

4:50 p.m.
Indian River and Sussex Central wrestlers are readying for the next round at the state dual-meet championships at Delaware State University.

IR beat Delaware Military Academy, 36-30; Sussex Tech lost to Caesar Rodney, 54-22. The Indians came out of the gate on fire, taking the first nine matches and forfeiting the final five in order to save their wrestlers for the second round.

Indian River is moving on in D-II action for a rematch against Caravel, which the upstate squad won earlier in the season. Sussex Central's Golden Knights will also have a rematch in D-I against Smyrna, which the Knights won 45-17 two weeks ago.

6:30 p.m.
Sussex Central is prepping for a D-I wrestling final against upstate powerhouse St. Mark's at the state dual meets after beating Smyrna, 47-28.

Indian River lost in the semis, 31-27 to Caravel, which will face Hodgson in the D-II final.

8:45 p.m.
Sussex Central's Golden Knights fell short in the state dual-meet championships Tuesday evening. St. Mark's took home the title with a 39-23 victory, winning seven matches in a row before Central's Ryan Walls gained six points for the squad as he ended the evening with a pin.
