Dinner idea: Gila Creek Red Rub

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon ground smoked Spanish paprika

1/2 teaspoon lemon zest

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon mesquite seasoning

Combine the spices and process in a coffee grinder. Use as a rub with burgers, steaks, chicken or fish and cook as normal. Or, mix with mayonnaise and sour cream, to taste, to make a sandwich spread or dip. Store for the future in a glass jar with a tight lid. Makes about 2 1⁄3 tablespoons.

Tonight is a repeat of Sunday’s season two premiere of “Sister Wives.” Kody Brown and his four wives decide to go to New York to appear on national television for the first time as open polygamists. Meanwhile, the kids prepare for their first day of public school back at home.

Weekend tip: First day of spring on Sunday

Sunday is the first day of spring, so get in the spirit by spending some time outdoors, but don’t forget to schedule around the college basketball games. Plus, even though St. Patrick’s Day is Thursday, some bars and restaurants may still offer specials on drinks or food this weekend.
