A 51-year-old Lewes man pleaded guilty on Feb. 27 in the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas to the charge of unlawful use of a credit card in connection to a smash and grab theft earlier this year in Rehoboth Beach.

A 51-year-old Lewes man pleaded guilty on Feb. 27 in the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas to the charge of unlawful use of a credit card in connection to a smash and grab theft earlier this year in Rehoboth Beach.

According to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, Dale S. Carter was arrested Feb. 10 for his role in the Jan. 17 theft from a vehicle in the Rehoboth Beach Shopping Center. Police said Carter’s silver vehicle was caught on surveillance footage obtained from the Lewes Wawa. Police said Carter utilized a credit card stolen from the victim to purchase gas at Wawa for a female subject. Carter was charged with identity theft, unlawful use of a credit card and receiving stolen property. He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in default of $10,000 secured bond.
