The Dirty Bird 5K/2.5K Walk to raise scholarship funds will be held May 8 on the nature trail at The Jefferson School, 22051 Wilson Road in Georgetown.

The Dirty Bird 5K/2.5K Walk to raise scholarship funds will be held May 8 on the nature trail at The Jefferson School, 22051 Wilson Road in Georgetown.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the walk begins at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds fund scholarships to help children from all income levels attend The Jefferson School, a non-profit, pre-K through eighth grade school. In addition to the race, the event will offer refreshments, music and prizes. While wheelchairs and strollers are welcome, pets are not.

Participants who pre-register by April 25 will be guaranteed a race T-shirt. To pre-register, and to pay the discounted price of $20, visit jeffersonschool.com/events. The registration fee on the day of the event is $30. There are no refunds for this race, which will take place rain or shine. If hazardous conditions such as lightening are imminent, the race may be delayed or cancelled.
