A 23-year-old Millsboro woman was arrested in connection with an attempted theft at the Georgetown Walmart on May 26.

Maria E. Gravenor was arrested by Georgetown on June 19 after officers recognized her as a passenger during a traffic stop, according to Georgetown Police Department spokesman Lt. Lawrence Grose.

Georgetown police had an active warrant for Gravenor’s arrest stemming from the alleged Walmart theft, during which Gravenor attempted to steal numerous clothing items while banned from the store for a previous incident, Grose said.

Upon Gravenor’s arrest during the traffic stop, a computer check revealed that she was wanted on several warrants out of Kent County Court of Common Pleas, Sussex County Court of Common Pleas and Justice of the Peace Court 3.

Gravenor is charged with shoplifting and trespassing. She was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of a $2,000 secured bond.
