A 44-year-old Georgetown man was jailed and is facing multiple charges after police responded to a Georgetown motel for a domestic violence report.

Johnny Finney was arrested shortly after 12 a.m. on Aug. 6 when police discovered that Finney was involved in a physical confrontation with a 51-year-old woman, according to Georgetown Police Department spokesman Lt. Lawrence Grose.

Grose said Finney allegedly contacted the woman and wanted to come into her motel room. The woman refused to let him in, so Finney went to the office, got a key for the room and entered.

Finney allegedly grabbed the victim, causing minor injury to her right arm, after gaining entrance to the room, Grose said. During the altercation, Finney also allegedly made threatening statements, all of which occurred in front of the woman’s 2-year-old grandchild, Grose said.

Finney is charged with offensive touching, terroristic threatening and endangering the welfare of a child. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,250 secured bond with a future court date.
