Tech will be without graduates and state championships place-winners, Tyler Jump and Matthew Wilson but return several standouts ready to step up. The Ravens had four overall place-winners in last year’s state tournament, two of which return this season. Junior Ju’Wan Massey returns after winning the state title at 113 last year, defeating Milford’s Jared Lugo. And senior Dimarco Dorsey returns after placing sixth overall at 152 in last year’s championships. The Ravens open up their schedule on Wednesday, December 10 hosting the Dover Senators at 7:00 p.m. The following weekend the Ravens will participate in their first tournament of the season, the Milford Invitational.

Season Outlook: The Sussex Central Golden Knights’ wrestling squad returns to the mat for a new season looking to improve on their 4-7 record as a team last season. A small Golden Knight team will lose five seniors from last season including Jack Brown, Willian Ortiz, Dylan Blake, Kevine Nocks, and third-place finisher at 182lbs in last year’s state championships, Clay Conaway. However, leading the way for the handful of returnees is junior Justin Bennett who place third at 145 in last year’s state championship. Along with Bennett, fellow seniors Christian Green and James Jenkins return, and sophomores Blake Chambers, Lucas Hudson, Myles Vernet, and Jordan West return hoping to build off of solid freshmen campaigns. The Golden Knights open their schedule on Wednesday, December 17 hosting Middletown at 5:00 p.m.
